The « Friendship Knot Camp » in Lithuania (October 2024)

Laba diena, dzień dobry, šalom, добрий день.
On 11-13 October, a unique event took place – the Friendship Knot Camp, which was attended by Lithuanian and foreign Scouts of different nationalities. Representatives of the Lithuanian Scouts, Lithuanian Jewish Scouts, Lithuanian Polish Scouts and Ukrainians from Panevėžys gathered in the « Scout Valley » near Ukmergė for a creative and useful time.

The camp, which aimed to create a safe and fun environment to learn about other cultures, was packed with activities. There was a night hike, where leaders developed Scouting vigilance and teamwork, fun team orientation games to learn about the cultural specificity of the nations and the differences between the organisations, and the co-creation of a common symbolism together, and in the evenings there were gatherings around the campfire, with traditional songs and games from different nations and organisations.

During the meal, traditional dishes were introduced: Jewish potato pancakes – latkes, Ukrainian borscht, etc. Participants learnt from each other the Scout troops of different traditions and heard songs in different languages. The three days were full of valuable and rich activities, unforgettable impressions and experiences for both participants and organisers.

The activities are part of the EU Solidarity project « Let’s be open – let’s get to know different cultures », supervised by the Youth Agency.
