World Thinking Day – 22 February 2024

ON THE WORLD THINKING DAY WE THINK: HOW CAN WE, AS SCOUTS AND HUMAN BEINGS, HELP 134 HOSTAGES THAT ARE KEPT IN UNDERGROUND TUNNELS FOR 138 DAYS TO COME BACK HOME? 🎗️

Today, Scouts around the globe honor the legacy of Baden and Olive Powell on WORLD THINKING DAY, dedicating time to ponder upon global challenges. Last year, the focus was on cultivating world peace, a theme that has only grown in significance.

Since October 7th, a distressing situation has unfolded in the Gaza strip, where 134 individuals, including the elderly, adults, women and infants, are being held captive by Hamas, recognized as a terrorist organization. These innocent lives have been plunged into darkness for 138 days, deprived of sunlight, essential medications, food, and the dignity afforded by human rights oversight, enduring daily hardships.

On this WORLD THINKING DAY, while many reflect on issues like the environment and poverty (this year’s topic), we, the Israeli Scouts, implore you to spare a thought for these captives. Consider what actions you have taken or could take to alleviate their plight and secure their freedom. What steps can we collectively take to end their suffering?
